Ms. Werner is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the states of Massachusetts and Rhode Island. She has eight years of experience in the mental health field specializing in sex offender assessment and treatment. Additionally, Ms. Werner has expertise in substance abuse diagnosis and treatment , and worked previously in counseling and transitioning clients through multiple levels of substance use care in order to meet their needs for long term recovery. Ms. Werner also worked with the Department of Developmental Services to provide case management for individuals with developmental delays and provide psychoeducation and resources for both these individuals and their caretakers.  Ms. Werner has a breadth of experience with psychological testing and forensic assessments including, but not limited to, the STABLE 2007, STATIC 99R, The Personality Assessment Inventory (PAI), HARE Psychopathy Checklist Revised, and various other forms of cognitive and personality testing. 

In addition to working with the Department of Developmental Services, Ms. Werner has previously worked with Massachusetts state agencies including Department of Mental Health, Department of Children and Families and the Department of Corrections through her involvement in domestic violence awareness, substance abuse treatment, school and family counseling, and sex offender specific treatment. This knowledge has been instrumental in her work towards understanding the criminal justice system and how to help people successfully integrate back into the community. Ms. Werner has worked to assist clients in incorporating a strengths based approach to transitioning from incarceration and to maintain long term success. Ms. Werner has also provided psycho-educational classes to clients focusing on utilizing skills to overcome perceived challenges that may arise in the community.

Ms. Werner received her Bachelor’s of Arts degree cum laude from Bryant University in 2013 and later received her Master’s of Arts in Forensic Psychology from Roger Williams University in 2016. She additionally went on to receive a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies in Advanced Counseling in 2018 from Rhode Island College. She has attended numerous trainings including, justice programming through the Justice Resource Institute, certification in Self-Management and Recovery Training (SMART), and Structured Assessment of Protective Factors for violence risk (SAPROF), amongst others.
