Forensic & Court-Ordered Treatment

Individual and Group Therapy for Justice-Involved Adults and Juveniles

Treatment can be a part of the path back to a positive and prosocial life.

Forensic Insight Group has expertise in specialized treatment and psycho-education in correctional and outpatient settings. We offer evaluations to determine best placement into group and individual therapy, including the LS-CMI, STABLE 2007, PHQ9, GAD 7, and the DAST-10, among others. FIG is available for consultation on program development and implementation as well as trainings for clinicians, law enforcement and other professionals.

Individual Therapy or Treatment for Justice-Involved individuals

We have psychotherapists who can work with both juveniles and adults one-on-one to address issues related to anger, substance abuse, sexual offending/problematic sexual behaviors, and other criminal behaviors. Our clinicians provide a safe, supportive, and confidential space for clients to begin to understand past behaviors and to learn new ways to appropriately meet their needs.

Our clinicians use empirically guided treatment approaches and have expertise working in both outpatient and correctional environments. We provide specific treatment programs, such as sex offender treatment, as well as general therapy to address relevant behaviors, symptoms, and treatment issues.

FORENSIC GROUP THERAPY & CLASSES

We provide multiple therapy groups and classes designed for justice-involved individuals.

Good Lives Therapy Group

This group focuses on reducing problematic sexual behavior using a number of empirically validated modalities. The 90-minute group will involve sharing personal experiences and challenges, as well as homework assignments. We offer a comprehensive approach to problematic sexual behaviors beginning with the intake process. Individuals seeking treatment for problematic sexual behavior will begin by participating in a thorough intake assessment. We will document familial history, sexual development, and history of the problematic behaviors. Contact with collateral supports will be made when possible to provide supplemental information. Additionally, cognitive screening, personality assessments, actuarial and dynamic risk measures, and screening for sexual deviance may be part of the intake process.

Substance Abuse & dual Diagnosis Therapy Group

In this group, participants will learn about the roots of substance abuse, how to navigate internal and external triggers, and build effective coping skills to process how thoughts and feelings elicit substance seeking behaviors. Often, substance abuse is a symptom of an underlying mental health condition, and in the Dual Diagnosis group this is explored further with the use of evidence based practice and DBT skills. We offer a supportive environment focused on strength based teachings to assist in identifying the root of substance use and how to establish healthier habits and boundaries. Participants will be able to partake in individual and/or group sessions to best ascertain course of treatment.

Men’s Reentry Therapy Group

Transitioning from life of incarceration or supervision to the community can feel overwhelming and daunting. This group is designed to assist men in this re-integration process and provide a safe environment for participants to voice their concerns and hopes. Modalities such as Motivational Interviewing, DBT and CBT are utilized to cover topics such as effective advocating, communication with your supports, prioritizing needs, establishing coping skills, distress tolerance, and goal setting. Participants are encouraged to identify prominent life stressors and learn ways to overcome these in a collaborative way.

Women’s Reentry Therapy Group

Navigating work life balance can be particularly hard for women as they re-enter the community from previous supervision or incarceration. In this group, women are able to enter a supportive environment in which topics such as parenting, domestic violence, trauma, and re-integration are shared. Utilizing CBT techniques this group promotes a sense of overall wellbeing and validation and establishes habits such as effective communication and advocacy to meet needs effectively.

Anger Management Class

Participants will learn about different types of anger and will have the opportunity to gain healthy coping outlets to better express and manage their anger. This class meets criteria for any court ordered anger management program. Certificate of completion will be given to those who attend all 15 sessions. Anger Management is the recommended treatment for those experiencing problems stemming from anger control issues, occupational, recreational or familial areas of functioning.  Anger Management’s goal is to assist the individual to recognize important internal and external cues that contribute to the incidence of aggression and develop strategies for appropriate social responses. Individuals often come to us for an anger assessment after legal difficulty, or after adverse actions in school or employment settings. A risk management assessment is the first step toward determining if the individual has an anger management issue and if so, the recommended course of action.
