Ms. Shoup is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Massachusetts. She has four years of experience in the mental health field specializing in sex offender treatment. Additionally, Ms. Shoup has expertise in behavioral approaches to treatment, and worked previously as an applied behavioral analysis (ABA) therapist serving children and adolescents primarily on the Autism Spectrum. Ms. Shoup has experience working in community mental health and serving a diversity of clientele with wide ranging clinical issues including substance use, psychotic, personality and mood disorders. She has a breadth of experience with psychological testing and forensic assessments including, but not limited to, the STABLE 2007, STATIC 99R, HARE Psychopathy Checklist Revised, and various other forms of cognitive and personality testing. Additionally, Ms. Shoup has experience conducting group and individual treatment as well as crisis intervention.
Ms. Shoup has previously worked with Massachusetts state agencies including Department of Mental Health, Department of Developmental Services, Department of Children and Families and the Department of Corrections through her involvement in applied behavior analysis, community mental health counseling and sex offender specific treatment. This knowledge has been instrumental in her work towards understanding the criminal justice system and how to help people successfully integrate back into the community. Ms. Shoup has worked to assist clients in incorporating a strengths based approach to transitioning from incarceration and to maintain long term success. Ms. Shoup has also provided psycho-educational classes to clients focusing on utilizing skills to overcome perceived challenges that may arise in the community.
Ms. Shoup has experience providing trainings to mental health, law enforcement and other professionals related to mental health, wellness, and sex offending.
Ms. Shoup received her Bachelor’s of Arts degree from Washington University in St. Louis in 2016 and later received her Master’s of Arts in Mental Health Counseling from Boston College in 2018.
Ms. Shoup is available to conduct mental health and sex offender assessment and treatment evaluations as well as reentry planning. She is also available for individual mental health and sex offender treatment. Her group offerings can be found on the groups page.
