Individual Psychotherapy

No greater thing is created suddenly, any more than a bunch of grapes or a fig. If you tell me that you desire a fig, I answer you that there must be time. Let it first blossom, then bear fruit, then ripen.
— Epictetus

LEARN, PROSPER, AND GROW

Fig trees are considered symbolic, with many cultures viewing the tree as a symbol of growth, prosperity, and knowledge. A fig tree begins its journey as a seed then grows roots and branches until it is a strong, supportive tree that shares fruit with others. Similarly, we aim to help others grow their roots and develop a healthy foundation from which they can branch out and blossom.

People choose to speak to a psychotherapist for many reasons. Perhaps they are struggling with feelings that seem too much to carry alone. Maybe they are looking for someone to help them solve a problem in their job, family, or other relationships.

Seeking out support through individual therapy can be both an exciting and anxiety provoking process. Our clinicians at FIG provide a safe, confidential space where change can begin to take place.

Some challenges individuals may want assistance in addressing include:

  • Stress Management/Mindfulness

  • Relationships

  • Family/Parenting

  • Emotional Management

  • Depression/Anxiety

  • Life Transitions

  • Career Counseling

  • Work Stressors and Trauma, possibly experienced by Correctional Staff, Law Enforcement, and others

Life is not what it’s supposed to be. It’s what it is. The way you cope with it is what makes the difference.

CHANGE IS NOT EASY.

Dealing with uncomfortable feelings, addressing problems in relationships, changing our thoughts and behaviors--this is hard work. That is why having someone who can really listen, who can offer a unique perspective, and who will provide support is invaluable.

Our clinicians understand that you deserve to feel safe and supported through unconditional positive regard as you experience the journey of growth and change. However, safety and support not only refers to the physical and emotional space in which therapy and change happens, but also to public safety. This is addressed by providing support to those who need it, while also holding them accountable for their behavioral choices.

Shame dies when stories are told in safe spaces.
